On this page we list the latest election polls released for the 2024 United Kingdom general election. There are currently 650 seats in the House of Commons (the lower house of the British Parliament). 326 seats are required for a majority, although the number of seats needed to form a government is slightly less as Sinn Fein are an abstentionist party. The UK uses the First Past The Post (FPTP) electoral system which often yields single party majority governments.
The last election was held in December 2019 and resulted in the Conservative Party winning a majority of 80 seats on a 43.6% vote share. The opposition Labour Party won 202 seats with a loss of 60 since the last election. The smaller parts (Liberal Democrats, Green Party and the Brexit Party) remained static in terms of seats. The SNP (Scottish National Party) improved on their number of seats, winning 48 in total with a 45% vote share in Scotland. Brexit was the defining issue in the 2019 general election.
